The purpose of the Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter at the University of Tennessee Knoxville is to support the work of Habitat, while also developing a strong community dedicated to Habitat's mission at our University. We work closely with the Knoxville Habitat Affiliate, and one of our ultimate goals is to raise enough money to fund a Habitat house for a deserving family here in Knoxville. The family will then pay the house off with a ZERO interest 30 year mortgage and those funds will be kicked back into the organization to help other families and their homes.
Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical organization which seeks to alleviate the burden of poverty specifically through the provision of lasting homes to deserving families. However, Habitat's mission is not merely physical—they also focusing on restoring the dignity, hope, and pride that are often lost as a result of impoverishment and inequality.
